What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at I-95 in Stamford, CT on September 19th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:31 a.m. According to investigators, a box truck operated by Michael Smith was headed northbound in a center lane of I-95 as a motorcycle operated by Jose Coreas-Ortiz approached. Officials say the motorcycle struck the back of the box truck for unknown reasons, which ejected Coreas-Ortiz from the vehicle. He was struck by a tractor-trailer shortly after, suffering fatal injuries a the scene. Additional details were not yet available.
