What Happened

Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at County Rd 78 and Elmwood Dr in Lee County, FL on August 11th, 2023. Police say the incident happened when a semi-truck headed eastbound veered from the road for unknown reasons. It then went into a grass shoulder lane before colliding with a pair of wooden poles. The driver, a 62-year-old Fort Meade man, was taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. Additional information was not immediately available.
