What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at Plank Rd in DeKalb County, IL on August 28th, 2023. Police say the incident happened when a semi-truck allegedly veered into a westbound lane, possibly to avoid a collision with stopped vehicles, before colliding with a delivery van operated by 59-year-old Blake Mathison. Mathison suffered fatal injuries int he collision. Vela's condition was not stated.
