What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that injured an officer at I-74 in Ogden, IL on March 8th, 2023. Police say it occurred around 2 a.m. According to investigators, a squad car was at a construction zone that had barricades set up around it in order to direct the flow of traffic. Police say a commercial truck towing three other tractors went around the barricades and struck both an exit sign and the rear of the squad car. The officer inside was taken to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the truck, identified as 46-year-old Thomas Mbongo, was cited for failure to slow down to avoid an accident.
