What Happened

Lake County Sheriff's Office officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at Route 12 near Wauconda, IL on August 12th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:24 a.m. According to investigators, a passenger vehicle, operated by an 84-year=old Oakwood Hills woman, was exiting a business lot to travel westbound onto Route 12. A semi-truck was headed northbound when police say the passenger vehicle allegedly attempted to make a u-turn ahead of the truck. The two vehicles collided as the truck went eastbound into an embankment. The Oakwood Hills woman suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Additional information was not immediately available.
