What Happened

State Police arrested a driver in connection with a collision that killed one person at State Rd 37 in Perry County, IN on May 11th, 2023. Police say it happened around 9 p.m. According to investigators, a scooter was struck by a truck-trailer combo under unclear circumstances. Following the collision, police allege the truck, allegedly operated by Blake Hensley, did not come to a stop to render aid or to call authorities. Amity Smitson, one of the operators of the vehicle, was killed in the collision. The second occupants, Miller Nix, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
