What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US Hwy 218 in Waterloo, IA on April 28th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:15 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Charger was allegedly traveling the wrong direction before colliding with a semi-truck operated by 50-year-old Christopher Scholl. The collision caused the Charger to catch fire. The semi-truck driver was not injured. The driver of the Dodge, identified as 26-year-old Jordan Welch, suffered burns and other serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
