What Happened

Iowa State Patrol officials are investigating a collision between a pickup truck and semi-truck at Hwy 34 and 197th Trail in Monroe County, IA on March 29th, 2023. Police say it happened around 3:50 p.m. They believe a pickup truck operated by 30-year-old Andrew Gunter was headed eastbound before it allegedly traveled across a center line and into the path of a westbound semi-truck. The vehicles collided, causing the pickup truck to overturn. Gunter suffered fatal injuries at the scene while his passenger, 37-year-old Tyler Kiefer, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The semi-truck operator was not injured. Additional information was not yet available.
