What Happened

Somerset County Sheriff's Office authorities have information on a collision that killed a man at Ell Hill Rd in Palmyra, ME on May 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. According to investigators, a vehicle operated by 67-year-old Robert Sylvia was headed southbound before allegedly crossing a center line and colliding head-on with a tract0r-trailer. The truck, police say, is a registered Maine Department of Transportation vehicle. Sylvia died at the scene while his passenger, a child under the age of 18, was taken to an area hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The driver of the truck was allegedly uninjured and taken an area hospital for evaluation. Right now, police do not have any additional information to disclose.
