What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people at Crain Hwy in Anne Arundel County, MD on March 12th, 2023. Police are saying it happened around 12:15 a.m. According to investigators, a Freightliner tow truck headed southbound on Crain Hwy collided with the rear of a Honda sedan under unclear circumstances. The collision caused both vehicles to veer from the road and crash into a group of trees. The driver of the Honda sedan and a passenger were killed. They were identified as 54-year-old Irene Nkechi Onwukwe and 85-year-old Josephine Monyei. A third passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. That individual was not publicly identified. The tow truck driver is said to have been hospitalized with minor injuries. Additional information was not available.
