What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision that killed a driver at Hwy 92 in Arnold, NE on August 30th, 2023. Police say the incident occurred around 6:02 a.m. According to officials, an eastbound semi-truck collided with a construction broom sweeper under unclear circumstances. The broom sweeper is said to have went into a ditch on the southern side of the road while the semi-truck ended up in a separate ditch. The 56-year-old operator of the broom sweeper, Mark Wells, was hospitalized for treatment of injuries he later died from. The 67-year-old Stapleton man operating the semi-truck allegedly had minor injuries and sources so he was not transported to an area hospital for treatment. Additional information was not available.
