What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed two people at Hwy 6 near Clay County, NE on August 9th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck headed westbound on Hwy 6 veered into eastbound lanes before losing control and striking a Buick Enclave. The driver of the Buick, identified as Nicole Pavelka and a child passenger were both killed in the crash. Three other child passengers were hospitalized with serious injuries. Police say the drier of the semi-truck, identified as Justin Zoerb, was arrested and had no additional information to provide.
