What Happened

North Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed one person at US 421 and I-140 in Wilmington, NC on January 25th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 8:10 p.m. Reports allege a semi-truck hauling a concrete girder was attempting a left turn at the US 421/I-410 junction before the girder made contact with a northbound vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle was killed in the collision. Reports allege the truck operator was charged with Failure to Yield and Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle.
