What Happened

North Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at I-77 in Iredell County, NC on November 28th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer headed southbound is said to have failed to reduce its speed before colliding with a Ford Focus stopped in traffic. A passenger of the Ford, identified as 66-year-old Patrick Calhoun Mays, was killed. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Rebecca Mays, was hospitalized along with a 15-year-old passenger with undisclosed injuries. The driver driver, 52-year-old Oleg Polishchuk, was not injured.
