What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at US Route 29 in Guilford County, NC on February 5th, 2024.  Officials are saying the incident happened around 11:37 a.m. According to investigators, a box truck headed southbound on US 29 is accused of failing to reduce its speed proper to colliding with the rear of a Subaru SUV. The Subaru, reports say, was stopped behind a Ford van waiting to proceed into an intersection. The collision caused the Subaru to strike the Ford, leaving both the driver of Fiord and box truck with suspected minor injuries. The Subaru operator, who was not publicly identified, had serious injuries and was hospitalized for treatment. A passenger in the same vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Quinton Dean, died at the scene. The box truck operator was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, reports say. Authorities did not have additional information available.
