What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at US 69 in Atoka County, OK on September 14th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:40 p.m. According to investigators, a pickup truck operated by 35-year-old Jesus Zuniga was headed southbound when it crossed through center cable barriers into the northbound lanes of US 69. It struck a semi-truck, causing the semi to veer from the road, overturn and allowed a second truck to collide with the overturned vehicle. Zuniga suffered fatal injuries while a passenger, 30-year-old Jose Santillan-Hernandez, was hospitalized with serious injuries. One of the other drivers was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
