What Happened

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials released the name of the woman killed in an accident involving a semi-truck in Lancaster, SC on January 3rd, 2019. 39-year-old Panisla "Penny" Drakeford Rice was killed when her vehicle crashed into a semi-truck that was backing into a private drive along US 521. Rice was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children in Rice's vehicle were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
