What Happened

South Dakota Highway Patrol officials are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead at SD 46 and SD 37 near Tyndall, SD on August 11th, 2023. Police say the incident happened between a westbound Nissan Xterra and southbound tractor-trailer. Investigators allege the Nissan may have missed a posted stop sign at the intersection before traveling into the path of the truck before the vehicles collided. The 43-year-old man operating the Nissan, identified as Jose Valera Diaz, suffered fatal injuries. The 63-year-old operator of the truck, identified as 63-year-old Bradley Jones, suffered suspected minor injuries. Additional information was not available.
