What Happened

El Paso Police are investigating a crash that killed at least one person involved at Loop 375 in El Paso, TX on August 26th, 2023. Police say the incident occurred around 12:47 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Sonic operated by 26-year-old Cassandra Yolanda Hernandez was eastbound traveling behind a Chevrolet Tahoe. Officials allege the Sonic collided with the rear of the Tahoe, causing the Tahoe to crash into a nearby guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and strike a metal support pole. A front seat passenger of the Tahoe, identified as 40-year-old Alondra Soriano Rojas, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver, 37-year-old Dulce Rivera Soriano, was hospitalized with suspected minor injures. A rear seat passenger, identified as 34-year-old Paloma Soriano, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Police allege Hernandez was intoxicated at the time of the crash and sources infuse an Intoxication Manslaughter charge was issued. Additional information was not available.
