What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured at least three people at I-30 near Gus Thomasson Rd in Mesquite, TX on November 13th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:42 p.m. According to investigators, an 18-wheeler was involved in a collision with other vehicles. It was suggested by sources that a shipping container somehow flipped while being hauled by an 18-wheeler. While in the roadway, officials say the shipping container was struck which led to a collision involving multiple vehicles. Officials say at least three people involved were injured and hospitalized, two being critically injured. One person, identified as 50-year-old Amanda Smith, later died from her injuries.
