What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured at least two people at Closner Blvd in Edinburg, TX on October 1st, 2022. Police are saying it happened around 4:54 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Malibu operated by 61-year-old Andrea Fernandez Sanchez was headed southbound on US 281 approaching the intersection with East Trenton Rd when a Nissan Maxima is alleged to have run the light at the intersection, colliding with the Malibu. Following to collision, the Nissan fled the scene before later being located near Trenton Rd. Sanchez and two occupants of the Nissan are said to have both been seriously injured. The driver of the Nissan, 19-year-old Romeo Munoz was not injured and it was recommended by officers that carded for Intoxication Assault and Evading Arrest by issued.
