What Happened

El Paso Police are investigating a crash that killed one person at I-10 in El Paso, TX on January 8th, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a Ford Mustang and Dodge Charger traveled westbound. Police allege suspicion that the vehicles may have been involved in a race prior to the Mustang losing control. Following this, the Mustang hit a trailer from the rear before hitting a fixed object and striking a nearby curb. An occupant of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Angel Barraza-Karnes, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. A second occupant was hospitalized in unknown condition. The Dodge involved did not remain at the scene. Additional details were not available.
