What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people at Hwy 27 in Pike County, TX on October 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:45 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer was making a left turn as a Ford Explorer was traveling around a right turn uphill, Investigators say the truck lost control and went into a spin, crossing into a southbound lane and colliding with the Ford. The occupants of the Ford, including 31-year-old driver, Ashley Penrod and 87-year-old passenger Verna Moore, suffered fatal injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
