Barbara Jones Injured in Accident at Hill St in Lufkin, TX

Area authorities are investigating a collision that injured a woman at Hill St in Lufkin, TX on July 13th, 2023. Police say the incident involved a Ford Expedition allegedly traveling into a turn lane in order to avoid colliding with another vehicle. Upon doing so, the Ford struck a Chevrolet Cruz waiting to make a turn onto Hill Street. Following the collision, officers say the vehicle left the road and came to a stop in a nearby wooded area before the driver, 38-year-old Chester Ray Jones, allegedly attempted to flee the scene on-foot. Officials say Jones was later apprehended and arrested. Reports say the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 74-year-old Barbara Jones, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Reports also indicate a DWI charge was recommended and/or issued against the Ford operator. Additional information was not available.
