What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a person at US 81 in Wise County, TX on December 20th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:22 p.m. According to investigators, a commercial truck operated by a unnamed 29-year-old Manteca, CA man was turning right onto US 81 to head northbound when it crossed into the path of an approaching Chevrolet Equinox. The two vehicles collided, leaving the driver of the Equinox, 30-year-old Brooke Elyssa Byrd, with serious injuries. The Manteca man was not injured and officers recommended and/or issued a Failure to Yield Row-Private Drive charge.
