What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at FM 1462 in Fort Bend County, TX on May 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:57 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 2500 operated by a 37-year-old male was headed eastbound on FM 1462. At the same time, a Chrysler Town & Country operated by 71-year-old Cheron Smith was turning left into a private driveway, stopping in the roadway to wait for passing traffic. Police say the Dodge failed to control its speed, colliding with the Chrysler as a result. Smith suffered fatal injuries in the collision while the other driver had serious injuries. Authorities recommended and/or issued a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter.
