What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a child at US 77 in McLennan County, TX on September 1st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:09 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 30-year-old Golinda was headed southbound before leaving the roadway for unconfirmed reasons. The vehicle is believed to have traveled through a barrow ditch before striking a mailbox before traveling off a concrete culvert and into metal fence posts and a chainlink fence. The impact caused the vehicle to roll onto its side, part of the fence post striking passenger in the vehicle. That passenger, an 8-year-old child, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Sources indicate officers suspect alcohol involvement and an intoxication assault charge was recommended and/or issued.
