What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at FM 88 in Willacy County, TX on February 20th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 23-year-old Christian Ray Contreras was headed northbound on State Hwy 88, approaching the intersection with FM 490. Authorities say a tractor-trailer operated by a 67-year-old Edcouch man failed to yield at the intersection and collided with the Silverado. Contreras suffered serious injuries in the collision while the Edcouch man was not injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
