What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at US 77 in Brownsville, TX on July 19th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:37 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Tundra operated by 51-year-old Christina Castillo was southbound. Police allege the vehicle made a turn when unsafe and went left, colliding with an attenuator attached to a commercial truck stopped in a left shoulder. The rear of the Toyota struck the side of a tanker trailer nearby, leaving Castillo and a 12-year-old child had suspected serious injuries. A second child passenger had less serious injuries. The operator of the stopped truck had suspected minor injuries. Additional information was not available.
