What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 204 in Rusk County, TX on December 30th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:33 p.m. According to investigators, a Kia Optima operated by 30-year-old Dalton Oates was headed northbound on State Hwy 204 when it veered from the road for unknown reasons. While attempting to return to the road, it went into a skid and traveled into a ditch, hitting a dirt embankment. The vehicle overturned in the crash, hitting a fence and ejecting Oates from the vehicle. Officials say Oates had say Oates had serious injuries.
