What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at State Hwy 158 in Midland County, TX on December 29th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:31 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by 52-year-old Marco Antonio Vallejo was headed southbound on Hwy 158 when it merged into a center left turn lane. The truck was turned left when it was struck by a southbound Ford F-350 operated by 41-year-old David Vela. Vela suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Investigators recommended and/or issued a failure to yield charge against Vallejo.
