What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at State Hwy 154 in Wood County, TX on September 18th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:03 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet operated by 24-year-old Leopoldo Guerrero was headed eastbound on Hwy 154 before veering partially from the road. The vehicle is said to have lost control while attempting to correct back into the road, going into a roll and veering from the road into a barrow ditch. The crash left 34-year-old passenger, Diana Valenzuela, with fatal injuries. A second passenger, 25-year-old Diovanni Cisneros, suffered serious injuries while Guerrero had less serious injuries. Sources indicate an Intoxication Manslaughter and an Intoxication Assault with Vehicle with Serious Bodily Injury charges were recommended. Additional information was not immediately available.
