What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 82 in Lamar County, TX on August 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:43 p.m. Investigators say a Chevrolet Impala operated by a 37-year-old driver was allegedly operating at a high rate of speed, making multiple lane changes. While doing so, the vehicle entered up striking an eastbound Honda Civic operated by 61-year-old Douglas Vansickle. Police say Vansickle had serious injuries. The other driver was not injured, according to police, and sources indicate a Failure to Control Speed charge was recommended and/or issued.
