What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at FM 969 in Bastrop County, TX on December 14th, 2022. Police are saying the incident happened around 7:42 p.m. According to investigators, a Volkswagen Golf operated by 36-year-old Eamonn Casey was headed southbound on FM 969. A Ford Edge operated by 30-year-old Maria Delgado was headed northbound on FM 969. The Volkswagen is alleged to have begun passing in a no-passing zone before colliding with the back left of the Ford. The impact pushed the vehicle from the road and was severe enough to cause fatal injuries to Casey. Delgado and her 65-year-old passenger were evaluated for possible injuries. Responding officers expressed suspicion of possible alcohol involvement in the crash.
