What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at US 67 in Pecos County, TX on August 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on US 67 in a construction zone at a speed alleged to be unsafe prior to veering into a northbound lane for unknown reasons. From there, the vehicle went into a ditch and struck a fence before overturning and ejecting the driver. The driver, identified as 55-year-old Efrain Garcia-Palacios, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Additional information was not available.
