What Happened

Lubbock Police identified the woman killed in a two-vehicle crash at 26th St and Ave Q in Lubbock, TX on January 1st, 2023. Police say the incident happened as an SUV was headed southbound on Ave Q. The vehicle was preparing to make a left turn when it collided with a northbound SUV under unclear circumstances. A passenger in the first SUV, identified s 57-year-old Elizabeth Prado, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries she later died from. The driver of the same vehicle, 61-year-old Richard Trevino and a child passenger, were both hospitalized with moderate injuries. The driver of the second SUV had minor injuries. Police had not additional information to share.
