What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at FM 439 in Bell County, TX on September 8th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 6:40 a.m. According to investigators, a Honda Civic operated by a 21-year-old driver was eastbound on FM 439. Traveling westbound on FM 439 was a Nissan Kicks operated by 33-year-old Elizabeth Skyler Verse. Investigators allege the Honda passed left of a tractor-trailer head of the vehicle in a no pass zone before colliding head-on with the Nissan. The impact from the collision pushed the Honda into the tractor-trailer, leaving the driver of the Honda with suspected serious injuries. Police say Verse was also seriously injured while the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. Additional information was not available.
