What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at TX 360 in Arlington, TX on August 27th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Yaris was reportedly disabled in a southbound lane of travel prior to being struck by a Chevrolet Silverado. Officials say the driver of the Toyota, 33-year-old Elvin Martinez Gomez, was ejected from the vehicle in the impact, suffering fatal injuries at the scene. Authorities say the Silverado left the scene without stopping to render aid but was followed by a vehicle operated by an off-duty officer. The driver was later located and arrested on an Intoxication Manslaughter charge, according to sources, as well as a Failure to Stop and Render Aid charge. Additional information was not available.
