What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at Tower Rd in Hidalgo County, TX on August 26th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:59 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Sentra operated by 53-year-old Esteban Garcia Nuñez is alleged to have been traveling northbound before entering into a contrition area of the road. The vehicle is said to have traveled past signs and barricades and was navigating the area before colliding with a concrete slab. Nuñez was taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. A child passenger in the vehicle was also hospitalized with injuries and later released. Additional information was not available.
