What Happened

Houston Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at Clearwood St in Houston, TX on September 26th, 2022. Police say it happened around 1:20 a.m. Investigators say a Dodge Charger was traveling at an alleged high rate of speed prior to crashing into a light pole and overturning. A pedestrian, identified as 36-year-old Evelina McKenzie, was struck in the incident, leaving her with fatal injuries. The driver involved in the crash, an unnamed woman, fled the scene on-foot. Her three passengers remained at the scene. Police say they alleged to have only met the driver earlier that night before or after coming from an unnamed club.
