What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a woman at Baldwin Blvd in Corpus Christi, TX on March 8th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 1:26 a.m. Reports allege a Cadillac STS, operated by a 30-year-old Corpus Christi man who was not publicly identified, was south bound on Baldwin Blvd at the time. Officials allege the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and, after crossing railroad tracks, began veering from the road. Police say the vehicle went over a curb and hit a light pole before sliding through chain link fence and string a nearby building. A 34-year-old woman in the vehicle, identified as Evelyn Perez, was fatally injured. The Corpus Christi man had minor injuries, reports say, and was allegedly under the influence at the time of the incident. Additional information was not available.
