What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured one person involved at FM 492 in Hidalgo County, TX on May 30th, 2023. Police are saying it happened around 9:21 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford Freestar operated by a 34-year-old driver was stopped at a stop sign prior to allegedly failing to yield and pulling into the intersection with South County Loop. The vehicle collided with a northbound Mercury Marquis operated by 41-year-old Gabino Lugo. Officials say Lugo suffered suspected serious injuries while his 30-year-old passenger, Miguel Escobedo, was evaluated for possible injuries. The Ford operator was uninjured, according to police, who recommended and/or issued Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Yield charges against the driver.
