What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-35 in Georgetown, TX on May 18th, 2023.  Police say the incident happened around 4:20 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 39-year-old Austin man was attempting a lane change before going into a skid. Police believed the vehicle was attempting to avoid colliding with another vehicle as traffic in the area slowed. It ended up striking a Chevrolet Tahoe operated by 45-year-old Howard Lamont Johnson, who was seriously injured in the collision. It also struck two other vehicles in a chain reaction style crash, however police say no injuries were reported with any of the other drivers. The Austin man was cited for Changing Lanes When Unsafe.
