What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 59 in Polk County, TX on September 5th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Camry operated by 31-year-old Ignacio Flores was northbound approaching a school bus stopped in a shoulder with active flashing lights to pick up children. Police say there was a vehicle ahead sliding behind the school bus, causing the Toyota to begin braking and steering right in order to avoid a collision. The Toyota ended up veering into the outside lane, making contact with the bus, leaving Flores with suspected serious injuries. There were no other reported injuries.
