What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at FM 1988 in Polk County, TX on August 2nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:51 p.m. Investigators believe a Honda Odyssey was headed westbound, approaching a curve in the roadway. The vehicle is believed to have veered partially from the road at the curve before going into a north ditch. While attempting to correct back onto the roadway, authorities believe the vehicle over-corrected and collided with a guardrail before landing in a creek. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Ilcel Pacheco, suffered fatal injuries. A child passenger, age 9, had suspected serious injuries while second and third child passengers, ages 5 and 6, is believed to have suffered less serious injuries.
