What Happened

A two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck led to three deaths at US 287 in Hardeman County, TX on March 12th, 2023. Police say it happened around 3:18 a.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck was headed southbound on US 287 at the time. Meanwhile, a pickup was in a center median crossover hoping to make a left turn to go southbound on US 287. Police believe the pickup failed to yield and turned into the of the semi-truck causing the pickup truck to be struck on its passenger side. The semi-truck ended up in a ditch before catching fire while the picky truck came to rest in a center median. The driver and passenger in the semi-truck were not able to escape the vehicle after the fire and suffered fatal injuries. They were identified as 32-year-old Yojaner Garcia Lazo and 33-year-old Reinier Perez Garcia. The pickup truck driver, identified as 23-year-old Jack Martin Poole was taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. Right now, there are no additional details to share.
