What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at FM 718 in Newark, TX on November 14th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:52 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Xterra operated by 37-year-old Jake George was headed southeast on FM 718 when it failed to control its speed ad collided with a vehicle stopped at a red light. Following the collision, the vehicle attempted to flee the scene before veering from the road through a field and across train tracks before hitting a tree. The driver at the red light was not injured while George is said to have been seriously injured. Officers recommended and/or issued a Driving While Intoxicated charge.
