What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that killed one person at US 290 in Bastrop County, TX on May 20th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 2:25 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Impala headed southbound at Roy Davis was involved in a collision with a westbound Nissan Titan. Police claim the Chevrolet may have failed to yield to the Nissan prior to the collision, which left the driver of the Chevrolet, 85-year-old James Fitzpatrick, seriously injured. Source also say there was a missing stop symbol at the intersection which may have caused or contributed to the crash. Reports say Fitzpatrick was hospitalized and later died of his injuries. The other driver was not publicly identified and allegedly suffered minor injuries. Additional information was not available.
