What Happened

A pedestrian was killed in a collision at FM 88 in Hidalgo County, TX on December 27th, 2022. Authorities believe it happened around 6:33 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford Mustang operated by a 62-year-old Elsa woman was headed northbound before striking a pedestrian in the roadway. Authorities say it was stated by family members that the pedestrian was legally blind, which may have contributed to the collision. The pedestrian, identified as 75-year-old Jesus Maldonado, suffered fatal injuries in the collision. Authorities did not have additional information to share.
