Police say the incident happened around 4:02 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Tahoe operated by a 30-year-old Garland man was southbound on Audelia Rd. Traveling eastbound on Chimney Hill Ln was a Toyota Scion TC, approaching the intersection with Audelia. Authorities allege the Tahoe ran a red light at the intersection before colliding with the Toyota. The impact caused Toyota to veer over a center median before crashing into a brick wall. The driver, identified as 47-year-old Jesus Sanchez Avila, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
